IT CAN'T GO ON LIKE THIS
Bankruptcy attorneys have long been getting attention by emphasizing the relief available under federal bankruptcy laws. And properly so, for it is the law--not the lawyer--which creates the relief. Austin has many capable attorneys who know how to make these laws work, yet the fees they charge can (and do) vary considerably. Since every bankruptcy involves severe financial problems, charging a reasonable attorney's fee seems particularly appropriate. My fees may not be the lowest in town, but you can certainly pay more if you want to. If you don't, and it really can't go on like this, call me for a FREE TELEPHONE CONSULTATION at 440-9300. | Welcome to my website. My purpose is not to sell you something, but to tell you something. Accordingly, I have tried to describe Chapter 7 bankruptcy in a straightforward manner, as well as give you information about myself and my way of doing things. There's nothing flashy about my presentation, but there's nothing flashy about Chapter 7 either.
FEES: One thing I can immediately explain is my fee for representing you. I generally charge $1,200.00 for my attorney's fee in a Chapter 7 bankruptcy. The court filing fee is $299.00, so the total is $1,499.00. I would need $1,000.00 as a retainer before filing your case, and the remaining $499.00 would be due one month after filing. That's the whole deal right there. (Note: related costs add about $50.00 to the total, but the attorney's fee is the same for just about everyone.)
LOCATION: After spending 20 years downtown, my office is now easily accessible at 4807A East Oltorf Street, Austin, TX 78741, southeast of downtown. It's about a mile and a half east of IH-35 and about a mile and a half south of the river. Of course, I give precise directions to anyone coming to see me. (Beware of GPS and internet maps--they may not be complete.)
